In 2007, singer/songwriter Julian Lennon founded The White Feather Foundation. The original idea as stated on their website was to “…work with partners worldwide to raise awareness and funds for the betterment of all life.”

As part of this effort, The White Feather Foundation offers a limited number of scholarships each year through their Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls.

Cynthia was Julian’s mum, and as a tribute to her memory, the foundation offers money for tuition, transportation, meals, uniforms…everything a girl anywhere in the world might need to pursue her educational dreams.

This year saw a record number of requests through their online application, but in the end…on the anniversary of Cynthia’s birth (Sept 10)…they chose to award 20 scholarships to 4 organizations, and Teach Her is so proud to be one of the recipients.

But really, Teach Her is not the winner here—although we are very grateful. The winners are all the students who will benefit from the seven scholarships we were awarded.

Here are a few faces of the students we serve. I met them on a recent trip to India. I took their photos. I hung out with them. I saw these smiles up close. This is where the money will go. These are the faces that honor Cynthia’s memory.

For the donors who gave to The White Feather Foundation, for Julian and his team, for the Indian students dreaming of a better future, I offer my deep appreciation and a promise that 100% of your money will be used to help change the future for these girls.

Thank You
